how to create a flexible hybrid workplace policy

Want to lead the way with a flexible hybrid working environment in 2022? But not sure where to start? In this blog, we will explain how to write a great flexible hybrid workplace policy that works for everyone!

What is flexible working?

Flexibility isn't offering to work a 9-5 at the office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only. But, what you think your team wants vs what your team actually needs may be a huge difference.

And this is where many companies go wrong...

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮?

Make sure you follow these steps:

step 1 - Talk to your people: the easiest way to find out what people need is to ask!

What kind of holidays matter to them, do they want mental health days, more training, or just the freedom to work from home if needed?

step 2 - What is the minimum commitment?

Do you want everyone at least in the office every Tuesday? Or are you happy with weekly check-ins via zoom? What are your non-negotiables when it comes to offering flexibility?

step 3 - Make the plan and ask for feedback

Ask the employees for feedback on the new plans and listen.

step 4 - ​Publish the draft and communicate

Make sure the draft is published, send to every member and is easily accessible, both offline and online.

step 5 - Review and adjust frequently

Congratulations you have the new policy in place. However, writing something on "paper" might not work out as well in real life. Review the new policy frequently to ensure it works for the employees as well as the business.

step 6 - Provide training for senior staff to support their teams

Nothing can be more overwhelming than quick change without any support or guides.
